Cheuk Ching Tse
Professional Violin Teacher & Performer in NYC
Guiding music students of all levels and backgrounds
Teaching Philosophy
There is no denying that the violin is one of the most difficult instruments in the world to master. Most learners, who start with lots of passion, remain stuck at the beginner level for years and eventually lose interest and give up—but there are some who stay committed and play beautifully and successfully in concerts only after a relatively short time.
The difference lies in the very foundation of their technique, their understanding of musical interpretation, and the quality of their practice. As a classically trained violinist who has received traditional conservatory training her whole life, Cheuk Ching understands this. However, these are merely tools to help violinists express themselves through music. Each student has a different background, personality, learning style, musical interests, and goals. In addition to her studies at Berlin University of the Arts and Yale School of Music, where she received the world’s best performance education, her studies at Teachers College of Columbia University gave her opportunities to not only work with musicians of different genres, but also learn how to teach diverse students. Cheuk Ching believes that it is her mission to help students find ways to express their own voice, creativity, and individuality through music and become the best version of themselves. Cheuk Ching strives to provide students a safe environment with a balance between discipline and freedom.
Cheuk Ching has more than 10 years of teaching experience and has guided many of her students to improve tremendously and find joy in becoming a better artist every day.
Testimonials
“Best violin teacher. Truly a rare find!
It was clear from our first lesson this summer that Cheuky’s top credentials come as no surprise, as her teaching methods are a perfect blend of European musicality and discipline and American individuality. My daughter has been playing the violin for 7 years and has never played with more depth and color than she does now. Her accuracy and technique have improved so much. Thank you for coaching her through her auditions!”

“Amazing and effective tutor
Ms. Tse is amazing—I never expected to find such a perfect teacher. She watched our playing via webcam and immediately identified our flaws. She was strict with posture, yet extremely gentle and patient. She corrected our postures using efficient methods and taught us the right way to practice. She focuses our learning on technical and musical development like no other. We're so lucky to have a teacher like her! I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn violin.”
